As with the cycle of seasons, so is the cycle of life, but for our family this month has been a bad one with the tragic and unexpected passing of Chris Black, husband to Jane and Father to Mady and Grandfather to Matthew and Lindi. There are no reasons, just questions.
On the farm, life continues and progress in some areas with reductions and disappointments in others.
Chickens continue to be an area of concern with sales well down on the last five year average.
Veggies have been ticking away, and our partner Living Food Gardens have continued their great support whilst my own customers wax and wane like the moon.
Of great importance, the Adirondack chair sales have grown in leaps and bounds, Sipho and myself have relocated the operation from my garage to the Farm workshop, introducing bulk production principles with production line proceedures. My garden swing chair has attracted several customers and I am sure will continue.
This morning at 06.00hrs the temperature was a balmy 16 degrees, following a week of great hot dry weather. All weather forecasts had advised of an approaching cold front, so I took a picture of it's approach 09.00.
We have also planted 1000 green cabbages and 500 red cabbages this morning with beetroot and turnips to follow tomorrow. I just have to share the glorious autumn colour of the next picture with everyone.
It is now 12.45 and the temperature has dropped to 9 degrees- just wait until tonight!!!!!!!!
