FIRST POST FOR 2013- WET WET WET

I suppose as a farmer I cannot complain about rain so this post is descriptive of what has happened in the first 11 days of January.
Lots and lots of rain, only two dry days so far.
We have had a couple of blinder thunderstorms, and associated rainfall exceeding 70mm for these. We have had another dusting of hail which has fortunately not done too much damage and interspaced with the current cold front drizzle accounts for 134mm this month.
The veg crops are OK but not sufficient heat units to get reasonable growth. Weeds/weed grasses however just love these conditions so weeding daily has been done, tough we are falling behind. We dug early Red potatoes this week, the yield was disappointing though.
