One of the most powerful feelings I have experienced at the farm is one of smelling, seeing and touching nature really for the first time. As a townie I have visited game resrves, logged sightings of birds and animals, and a few reptiles for the "one week" visit.
The farm offers 24/7 nature, and four very distinct seasons to experience. The smell of the farmyard has become an old friend to me, that gorgeous smell of the first violent thunderstorm of summer and the huge raindrops, the smell and feel of freshly cut hay.
One of the most peaceful things to experience is to sit quietly with the layer hens. They have a soft and soothing gurgle type sound, are not frightened of one gently pecking at one's boots or shoelaces. A great experience.
Under the indigenous forrest on a hot summers day, the cool is felt, the disorder of growth and the mat of leaves and twig floor crackles underfoot is a rewarding feeling. The cool clear stream water wonderful to drink and great to cool off hot feet.
more later...
