FARM EARNINGS UPDATE

It's a dull misty drizzly day, quite cold but without wind so as good a time as any to review performance of the farm.

Because chicken sales make up most of our turnover, here are the little darlings, nice and warm under he brooder.
OK so turnover creeps over the R1650000 mark and costs excluding Capital, are R1770000. The net difference is R152000 and if I spread this out over the time period it shows us the following.
  • Anne and I live a lifestyle we love and it has cost us R2670 per month to do so for the last 5 years. This cost excludes our personal expenses like medical aid, insurances bought in food and hobby materials and holidays with the children and grandchildren.
  • All our travel costs ( petrol, repairs, transporting produce to the markets are covered)
  • Power, and water costs are covered.
  • Staff costs are covered for the whole farming enterprise including our housekeeper.
  • building maintence, painting and repairs are covered
So for folk who do not use the SA Rand currency, this translates to US$310/month, UKPds 191/month and Euros 245/month. I think a very low cost for such a terrific lifestyle, we are certainly blessed.
